(one-sided) conversations with a Zionist

October 2024: In April and May I tried to engage with some prominent Columbia Zionists because I was getting sick of their shit. I've never been one to ignore a problem and arguably attack them before I have a set game plan, and I admit I was caught off guard by them trying to make TikToks when I approached them for a conversation outside the encampment. But after my letter, I've had months to interact with them and really interrogate why they believe what they believe. One girl said she'd respond, but ghosted me the whole summer into September when she suddenly deactivated her Instagram account. Another girl has filters for non-verified profiles, so I'm not sure she's ever seen my messages. But I had a mildly productive two and a half hour conversation with the male Columbia Zionist who co-wrote that "In Our Name" letter... after our conversation though, he went back to ignoring me/regurgitating Zionist propaganda like a perfect drone. They can't explain themselves and they don't care.

I admit, I was delusional like this once in my long-term high school relationship. I had a boyfriend who gaslit me and I was already a traumatized person, so it was easy to take advantage of me. It must be very sad and depersonalizing to be so indoctrinated into Zionist beliefs. Do they know who they are without this identity? Do they have any friends or a community outside of Zionism? I imagine inner turmoil waiting to be released, and sadly I do wish they go through major depressive episodes/existential crises and contemplate what it means to be human. I don't think they've thought about that enough and I think that's on purpose, a manipulation of younger generations to serve old and bitter purposes. I have had two major depressive episodes (lasting months) and went through existential crises before I had the words to understand what that was. I know every single person in Gaza, every person from newborn babies to 100-year old great-grandparents, is going through their own turmoil right now. It is not only a battle for their land but a battle for their minds, and echoing a sentiment I saw most recently espoused by Harvard's SJP: bring the war home. Bring the devastation back to the people who cause it, who support it, who profit and derive pleasure and privilege from it. That's what I mean when I say I hope Zionists suffer mentally, because the whole fucking issue is that too many are privileged while too many are dying. Because you lack the empathy to feel the pain of others, I'm hoping that personal pain comes to you.

I've been DMing the male Columbia Zionist sporadically when I need to vent about how awful Zionism is. I'll always criticize them to their face because they're the ones that deserve it, imo lowkey more than liberals who keep co-opting movements and making weird non-progress. I feel 99% certain that I'd fight a Trump supporter before fighting a Kamala supporter. I'm fighting both (a Trumpie and a Zionist) when I hit him with my words and it's satisfying as hell. I'm glad to have grown more in organizing spaces and develop a deeper understanding of propaganda and media, because it truly is a controller of society & people.

I hear Zionists incessantly send their friends/people they know all their propaganda and I thought I'd do the opposite/the same thing? with Zionists and pro-Palestinian propaganda. Over the months I've sent some videos and images of the destruction I see in Palestine because I don't think Zionists see that on their feed. It truly costs nothing for me to DM someone so why wouldn't I do it? I've already been yelling into the void here for 3 years, so I might as well rage at a Zionist hellbent on ignoring me anyways.

July 28th: At the very least Zionism requires the displacement of millions of Palestinians from their own land. And after all this time, I'm surprised you can't see that what's happening in Gaza is genocide. Thousands are dead, can't access clean water or food, & disease is rampant including POLIO. That never would've happened without Israel's bombings. If you don't like the term genocide, then think about it as mass murder. It completely fulfills the definition. Zionism isn't just the one thing you claim it is. I understand its a belief but there are so many other elements, a lot of which have brought mass suffering. It is a political stance. To ignore its influence in world politics, economics, environmental impact, childhood development, and academic pursuits is an uneducated viewpoint and given our academic background it's embarrassing you can't see the full picture. Zionism IS the actions it commits as much as it is a mentality. "Obviously the state is going to have to fight back against these terrorist groups" that doesn't explain why Israel has bombed numerous safe zones they told people to evacuate to like Rafah and Khan Younis. That doesn't explain the rise in anti-Palestinian racism in the West Bank. It doesn't justify bombing medical teams on purpose. It doesn't justify the fact that Gaza has more child amputees than anywhere in the world because of Israel's bombings. Again, this self-defense logic only goes so far. I asked if he could practice empathy for a Palestinian person in Gaza but he couldn't. I think I see your POV, recognize what you believe in, and understand why you think that way. I see that Zionism is the belief that the Jewish people have a right to self-determination in their historic homeland. I sincerely empathize, especially as a Jamaican who only exists because slavery and colonization took my ancestors away from their homeland. This is why I empathize with Palestinians as well, and I hope you can see how your suffering is connected and develop a desire to stop supporting those that cause pain.

September 3rd: You are the one supporting terrorism. Your peers and professors are right there picketing, and you could learn from them instead of being the biggest hypocrite you can possibly be. Your support for Israel EQUALS your support for the death of Palestinians, because that's what Israel is doing right now. Not to mention your own hostages were killed by your airstrikes... but keep calling us the monsters. The more you project the more you reveal yourself. You have nothing to say because your viewpoint is indefensible. Got sick of repeating the same flimsy lies? Hopefully you'll tire of living the lie too like be so fr. You want to live in a Zionist state? Gonna move to Gaza when it's rebuilt so you can celebrate on top of crushed bodies? Burn the Palestinian flag and call Palestinians slurs? Use their bodies as organ farms and science experiments? I hope you realize that's the end goal of Zionism... half the world can see that. Why can't you?

September 26th, me responding to a Canva post he made about how it's okay for Israel to bomb Lebanon: Not this shit again. At the very least you should own up to your own crimes: Hezbollah fires rockets at innocent Israelis, and Israel fires rockets at innocent Lebanese and Palestinian civilians. Don't try to say that the hundreds of kids Israel has killed in the past year alone were all terrorists... you'd sound even stupider that you do already. So Zionism only wants to wipe out Hamas and now Hezbollah, not Palestine and Lebanon which Israel has invaded for decades? Sureeee buddy. Zionism is the Jewish people's right to self-determination in their homeland. Meanwhile Zionism has killed its own Israeli Jewish hostages, humanitarian activists from around the world including the US, and thousands of Palestinians. What part of that is for the Jewish people? Defending the right to kill for land you want is NOT Judaism it's literally colonization. You keep defending the right to kill people then call us terrorists for holding a sign. October 2nd, I sent him a video Motaz Azaiza shared on his Instagram of Palestinian children suffering from skin burns caused by the bombings: This is what you defend and excuse as a Zionist. Lie to yourself all you want but I won't, because I care about the truth and humanity. The truth is you're fine with this happening in your name and you might even love it. The truth is that you don't look at these dying babies, you only want to point fingers elsewhere looking for something to blame-- Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran-- when the truth is Zionism is a decades-old project. You've admitted that yourself, acknowledging history, yet can't seem to comprehend how what's happening now in Palestine and across the world is tied to historical problems like colonization and Zionism. Why do you keep lying and saying Zionism is just a belief that has no impact when Gaza and Lebanon are in flames for all to see? Is it because you want to believe you're a good person? Or are you just lazy and self-hating enough to deny yourself the truth?

The post also calls George Jackson a terrorist because why the fuck not hm?: You're so fucking delusional oh my god. Full blown fascist and brainwashed piece of shit... In response to a post saying a pro-Palestinian activist who said Zionists should be murdered is "politics of inhumanity": No worse than your politics. You're so hypocritical it hurts. Zionists call every day for the death and suffering of Palestinians and anyone who supports them. You defend the right to kill others with impunity but are shocked when someone calls you inhuman? You are! You're acting inhuman and ignoring what you know to be right: that bombing innocent children and hospitals and schools is wrong. You would be even prouder of your inhumanity if you lived somewhere less diverse than New York. Don't act like you care about human beings. October 14th, I sent him a video Motaz posted of an Israeli airstrike hitting a hospital in Dair al balah where you can literally see people burning alive: This is Zionism in action. Wake up, realize your country is so fucked up, and do something about it. I've seen pictures of pro-Palestinian graffiti in Tel Aviv, videos of Israelis refusing to participate in the IDF, and there's plenty of ex-Zionists who've realized the error and harm of their ways. You supporting Zionism is not some abstract concept it is tacit endorsement of burning people alive and blowing them to pieces because they're a different ethnicity than you. Stop being a piece of shit and start caring about human lives. This was a hospital. Even if Hamas was hiding under there (doubtful as fuck) the military response shouldn't be to bomb the whole building including patients and doctors. This was done on purpose with no regard to civilian lives. So fucking horrific. You and all your Zionist friends should be ashamed to support this.

October 16th, I sent him a video of a Palestinian teen getting shot in the back by an IDF soldier: Shooting a kid running away from soldiers is self defense? K. At this point I feel like you lied about marching for BLM because if you did, I would expect you to be insanely outraged by this. Watching real fucking people get shot and killed on tape is hellish and horrible and you should've learned that 4 years ago minimum. Did you watch George Floyd's death? This should haunt you as much as that did. Racists kill innocent people without second thoughts. The cops and military enact such similar violence and are literally trained by each other to perfect the art of policing and violence and murder while being protected by the state.

Not to mention the need to secure oil so we can stay a "first world" country... it's not even about culture it's about money and resources and fucking real estate. You seriously keep supporting this? Textbook brainwashing fr!: The thoughts someone has on deportation and ICE should absolutely be regarded. ICE was created post 9/11 to "protect" the US but is functionally Islamophobic and racist. Both in the US and outside, DHS & ICE are terrorizing immigrants and behave despicably. The US would never classify their own organizations as terrorists but to most American people, they are the enemy. What the fuck else would you call a group that kidnaps AND deports people without due process? I'd say fascist bigots that love breaking the law, but maybe that's just me.
