The Starry Night: Dae-ho and Gi-hun go back and forth over whose fault it is, trying to kill each other to make their point. Dae-ho's not wrong that Gi-hun's ridiculous plan got them killed, but they only died because every pink soldier shot the players dead. We saw No-eul choose to not kill Player 246. It is absolutely an option to not kill. The answer to whose fault is it? is the VIPs. The most blame lies with them. It is also the Front Man and soldiers' fault. Some soldiers are worse than others. It is not originally the fault of any of the players and some of the soldiers. The pink soldiers are recruited the way the players are, but their participation in that role gives them blame for the events of the game. It becomes their fault when they choose to participate and further the game. The most blame lies with the VIPs, because they create the whole world. The real world where they've crushed the masses to obtain obscene wealth, and this world that exists for a week once a year to entertain them even more than their lives already do. They make the circumstances that produce players for the game. Our world has VIPs too-- Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Jeff Bezos, Peter Thiel, every single billionaire (all 3000 of them). I recall a line from Catching Fire, Haymitch telling Katniss, Always remember who the real enemy is. Gi-hun forgot that in the second game. I understand why, but it's heartbreaking. This whole show is heartbreaking, but only if you have a heart.
