Kendall is useless

the tragedy of kendall roy
Logan roasting Kendall as if he's not 100% the reason Kendall is this way... god I hate patriarchs and people like Logan.

Small Squid Game connection, Geum-ja talking to Gi-hun in Season 3: Life is just unfair. Bad people do bad things and blame other people and go on to live life, while good people beat themselves up over every little thing.

Kendall feels guilt. At his core he is a good person and while he is always financially taken care of, it comes with a ton of abuse from Logan that he might never recover from. It was not his fault to be born into a monster's family. He is truly a pitiful character doomed by birth but yes he could do better even still... but it's also like I understand why he cannot escape Logan's orbit.

Greg and mirrors

Greg never looks in the mirror…..

I think it definitely gives more to the multiple selves he puts on for people. We know that there is (or was?) a side of Greg that was never part of the Roys, when he was free from the viper’s nest. Where does that self go when he’s in their world?

His aversion to looking in the mirror reflects his mental state of not wanting to reflect on who he is. I wonder how this fits in with the siblings’ mirror problems, being forced to look at yourself breaking down and being mocked. Maybe if you never look in the mirror you never experience that type of pain, but not looking in the mirror comes with its own problems. You never get a clear image of who you are… and maybe Greg is more lost…. than stubbornly ignorant.

I’m not sure if this is projection from too many fanfics but he also seems to have insecurities about his body. I felt thatttt and have my own problems with the mirror. It’s different from Roman’s way of expressing that anxiety, being overly critical with his reflection. This is now making me think about Roman & Greg contrasts hhhh but like I’ll save that another day. Sorry to be serious about Gregory Hirsch i think he’s an enigma

real or not real? - succession

Real or not real? The eternal and most important question for Logan's kids. "Remember this shaft of light," he says to Shiv in season 2, assuring her that his offer to become CEO of Waystar is one she can believe. But Logan is a liar, and there is no end to his lies. He may (I doubt it) have meant it in the moment but as he says to her episodes later-- "Everything is always changing forever. Get used to it." and for him, that means love too. In an ideal world love would be the first constant but he thinks the nature of everything is that nothing's constant. It is a tragedy.
Logan learned from his abusive family (as well as growing up during WWI) how to abuse his kids. Abuse is love minus a few elements ;) so in a way the dream of love is a constant. But like I said in the same post I quote from, we need to make love more real! Its existence is already constant but it's whether you have it that varies between people. I believe all humans are fundamentally capable of love, so we just need to work on giving and growing love for everybody.

succession's game

Capitalism is a game where your life is on the line. Shiv, Kendall, and Roman play but with different stakes. It's evident throughout the show but I want to highlight a moment from Season 4 Episode 3 between Mattson and Kendall gracelessly negotiating Mattson buying Waystar.
Already rich. That's the playground Logan built for his children, an interesting form of capitalism, and it's true that they know next to nothing about the real world. Logan resents his kids because they don't know the value of a dollar yet he's the one who shielded them from it their entire life. His ego's a hundred feet tall yet he can't see himself for who he truly is, even if he knows he's evil. To him, that's just the nature of the game, not something he can change.
