from thewaitisogre on tumblr Greg never looks in the mirror…..
I think it definitely gives more to the multiple selves he puts on for people. We know that there is (or was?) a side of Greg that was never part of the Roys, when he was free from the viper’s nest. Where does that self go when he’s in their world? His aversion to looking in the mirror reflects his mental state of not wanting to reflect on who he is. I wonder how this fits in with the siblings’ mirror problems, being forced to look at yourself breaking down and being mocked. Maybe if you never look in the mirror you never experience that type of pain, but not looking in the mirror comes with its own problems. You never get a clear image of who you are… and maybe Greg is more lost…. than stubbornly ignorant. I’m not sure if this is projection from too many fanfics but he also seems to have insecurities about his body. I felt thatttt and have my own problems with the mirror. It’s different from Roman’s way of expressing that anxiety, being overly critical with his reflection. This is now making me think about Roman & Greg contrasts hhhh but like I’ll save that another day. Sorry to be serious about Gregory Hirsch i think he’s an enigma

Everything is a relationship but you can't solely define yourself in relation to other people. If you're only existing and acknowledging yourself as ______ of, you're not defining yourself in a healthy or true way. In All the Bells Say, we see that Roman's motivation for being a horrible person is because he's not letting Kendall be the worst person in the room. He's horrible on purpose because yes, it can be funny to be horrible. It can also be something for others to base themselves around. As long as Roman's around, other people know they're not the worst in the room anymore. But in the real world, you can't do that shit. You exist independent from your relationships. You need to define yourself as your own person, then you can identify yourself as a person who wants xyz relationships. Roman basing his whole life around being the punching bag is realistically tragic though, so maybe I shouldn't say "the real world". In the best world, you don't do this shit.
